In his Berlin studio, Bernhard Heiliger traces the designs for the large sculpture group to be positioned outside the German Pavilion at the Brussels World Fair. We follow the development from the clay maquette (small model) to the original plaster model. Apart from the physical handicraft involved, we also become aware of the artist's struggle for expression. This is a film without narration, an unsurpassable example of the type of film which shows the artist in the process of creation, ideal for helping the viewer to understand the structure of a sculpture.
